Geoff Thrope is a leading entrepreneur in the field of neurostimulation. He has more than 30 years of experience, including 15 years in academic research before joining the industry where he led commercial product development, sales & marketing, and business development programs. Mr. Thrope founded NDI Medical in 2002 with $220,000 in capital investment to develop and commercialize neurostimulation products. Since its inception, NDI has attracted over $17M in non-dilutive grants, exited its first venture returning over 150 times the original investment back to its shareholders, and has established two new neurostimulation business ventures. Prior to forming NDI Medical, Mr. Thrope worked at NeuroControl Corporation as Project Director, National Sales Manager, and Vice President of New Business Development. During his tenure, the company attracted over $30 M in venture capital investment, conducted successful multicenter clinical trials for neurostimulation products, obtained FDA and international regulatory approvals for its technologies, gained reimbursement from third party payers, and sold and marketed its products worldwide. Mr. Thrope earned a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and attended graduate school in Business Administration at Kent State University. He has published and presented more than 50 academic articles and has over 60 neurostimulation patents issued and pending. Mr. Thrope is on the board of several private companies, investment funds, and non-profit organizations.

Mr. Della Ratta has over 30 years of experience in investment banking and commercial banking. Prior to founding Western Reserve Partners, Mr. Della Ratta managed the Investment Banking Division of McDonald Investments Inc. During his 12 year tenure as Senior Managing Director and Manager of Investment Banking, Mr. Della Ratta increased the headcount of bankers from 18 to 236 and grew the revenue over ten-fold. He also positioned the firm to consistently rank among the top 15 M&A advisors nationally and in the top 5 for M&A transactions below $250 million. Prior to joining McDonald Investments Inc. in 1987, Mr. Della Ratta was employed at American Fletcher Corporation, Indianapolis, N.A. (now JPMorgan Chase) for ten years, most recently in the capacity of a Division Manager in the Corporate Group. Mr. Della Ratta’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University (Dean’s List), a Master of Business Administration from Thunderbird School of Global Management (with Honors) and a graduate degree in Banking from the Stonier Graduate School at Rutgers University. Warren M. Grill serves as NDI Medical’s Chief Scientific Officer and is presently the Addy Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University, Durham, NC, USA, with secondary appointments in Neurobiology and Surgery. Dr. Grill received the B.S. degree in biomedical engineering with honors from Boston University and the Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH. His research interests are in neural engineering and neural prostheses including design and testing of electrodes and stimulation techniques, the electrical properties of tissues and cells, and computational neuroscience with applications in restoration of bladder function, treatment of movement disorders with deep brain stimulation, and multi-joint limb movement. He has authored 90 peer-reviewed publications, and is an inventor on 9 issued and 5 pending patents. In 2007 he was elected as a Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, in 2008 received the Capers & Marion McDonald Award for Excellence in Teaching and Research at Duke University, and in 2009 was inducted into the Bass Society of Fellows at Duke for excellence in teaching and research.
Dr. Grill serves as a Consultant to the Neurological Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee, Center for Devices and Radiological Health, U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, on the editorial boards of Brain Stimulation, Journal of Neural Engineering, Neuromodulation, and Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing, and as Sr. Technical Editor for Neurotech Business Report. - Patricia Shrader, Director

Pat Shrader is Senior Vice President, Regulatory and External Affairs for Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD), a position she has held since 2004. Her responsibilities include interfacing with the US FDA and similar agencies internationally on regulatory issues; she also has overall responsibility for Public Policy, Communications, and Social Investing. Prior to her current role, Pat was Director of Regulatory Affairs for BD Diagnostics. Pat joined BD in 1995. Prior to joining BD, Pat was counsel with the Washington DC based law firm, Hogan & Hartson, as a member of the Administrative Law group.
Pat has a BA from McDaniel College, an MA from Hood College, and a JD from Georgetown University. She is RAC certified by the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society, and a member of the Board of the Food and Drug Law Institute. - Les C. Vinney, Director

Les Vinney is currently Senior Advisor of STERIS Corporation, and through September, 2007 was the Company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, and through July, 2007 a member of its Board of Directors. Les Vinney joined STERIS Corporation in August of 1999 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He became Senior Vice President, Finance and Operations in October 1999. In March 2000, he was elected President and Chief Operating Officer and a member of STERIS’s Board of Directors, and became STERIS Corporation’s President and CEO in July 2000.
Prior to joining STERIS, Mr. Vinney served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at The BF Goodrich Company. He joined BF Goodrich in 1991 as Vice President of Finance, Specialty Polymers and Chemicals. He later became a company Vice President and Group President, Sealants, Coatings, and Adhesives. He was named BF Goodrich’s Vice President and Treasurer in 1997 and was elected Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1998.
Before his career at BF Goodrich, Mr. Vinney held a number of senior operating and financial management positions with Engelhard Corporation, including serving as Group Vice President, Engineered Materials. His career began at Exxon Corporation in 1972, where Mr. Vinney progressed through several financial management assignments.
Les Vinney holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science, and a Master of Business Administration degree, with distinction, both from Cornell University. Mr. Vinney serves as Chairman of NorTech (Northeast Ohio Technology Coalition) and serves as the chairman of Cleveland HeartLab. He serves on the Boards of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Campbell Soup Company, Patterson Companies, and University Hospitals, and previously served on the board of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed).

Bob Blankenship joined NDI Medical as the CFO in 2005 with over 20 years experience in the health care industry. He worked for Marconi Medical Systems as Vice President of Finance and Corporate Controller, managing the worldwide financial reporting, budgeting and strategic planning operations for the Company. He led the implementation of a global reporting package that streamlined the reporting process for all operations. He also was involved with the evaluation of potential acquisition targets and the integration of an acquired company into the Organization. During that time Marconi Medical Systems grew in revenue more than $800 million before it was acquired by Philips Medical Systems. After the acquisition he continued with Philips Medical Systems as the Vice President and CFO of the CT/MR Division where he managed the worldwide financial functions of the company's $1.2 billion multi-product business line as well as the billion dollar merger of the Marconi Medical and Philips Imaging divisions. Prior to this, he was an accountant at Ernst & Young. Mr. Blankenship earned a M.B.A. from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He is a certified public accountant.

Maria Bennett previously worked at Boston Scientific, Inc. as a Clinical Project Manager. At Boston Scientific, Ms. Bennett led a team in the management and implementation of a large, multi-center clinical trial to demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of an innovative angioplasty balloon for peripheral interventions, and achieved 510(k) clearance for this product.. For this work, Boston Scientific awarded the project team a Vision Award for Excellence. Ms. Bennett spent the previous five years as a Biomedical Engineer with NeuroControl Corporation, directing the research and development team and leading clinical feasibility studies for various neurostimulation products. In her dual role managing the company's clinical studies, Ms. Bennett directed a multi-center study for a pain management neurostimulation therapy device. While working towards her master's degree in biomedical engineering, which she earned from Case Western Reserve University , Ms. Bennett conducted research in clinical applications of electrical stimulation. Recently Ms. Bennett joined SPR Therapeutics, NDI’s portfolio company, as President and CEO. Len Cosentino has been engaged with NDI Medical since its formation, becoming a part of the executive management team in 2006. Mr. Cosentino played a key role in the investment process culminating with the acquisition of NDI’s pelvic health business by Medtronic, of which Mr. Cosentino was the principal architect. Mr. Cosentino brings to the Company a broad range of experience assisting early stage technology companies, public and private companies, venture capital firms and entrepreneurs with complex merger, acquisition, joint venture, finance and investment transactions. Before joining NDI, Mr. Cosentino provided transactional and general legal services to the Company as a partner in the Cleveland, Ohio based law firm of McDonald Hopkins, LLC. A 1987 graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif), Mr. Cosentino began his legal career at the law firm of Jones Day in Cleveland, Ohio. From 1993 to 2000, Mr. Cosentino worked at a privately-owned company in the insurance industry where he served both as legal counsel and as Vice President of Administration responsible for operations, marketing and human resources. Juliana Elstad’s career has been principally devoted to the medical device fields of neuromodulation and cardiac rhythm management. Prior to joining NDI, she founded Elstad Medical, providing business development, marketing, and strategy consulting to early-stage medical device companies. Previously, Ms. Elstad led business development efforts at Medtronic, Inc., evaluating public small-cap companies, privately held startups, joint ventures, and collaborations with major U.S. universities. In addition to her business development role, she coordinated strategic planning, led a cross-functional committee to prioritize Medtronic’s neuromodulation R&D efforts, and performed marketing analyses of new therapies, for which she was selected as one of the top twenty-five Medtronic Emerging Leaders. Prior to Medtronic, she was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company and a senior auditor with Arthur Andersen. She earned her MBA from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in economics from the Moscow University of International Relations.

Julie Grill brings expertise in the design and conduct of clinical trials for medical devices and in navigating the associated worldwide regulatory environment. Prior to joining NDI Medical, she was Director of Clinical Studies and Regulatory Affairs for NeuroControl Corporation, leading multi-center studies, and preparing and obtaining approval for IDE, PMA, HDE, 510k, and CE mark applications for various neurostimulation products. She has also worked as a reviewer in the Neurological Devices Branch of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Bob Strother is an expert in the design, development, testing and manufacture of medical devices, including class III active implantable medical devices (AIMD). He has been instrumental in the design and commercial implementation of neurostimulation systems for over 30 years. His medical device industry experience includes positions implementing quality systems, and meeting quality assurance requirements and conformity assessment requirements for medical devices. He has most recently worked for a neurostimulation start-up company and earlier, was a co-owner of the engineering firm Research Instrumentation Associates, Inc., which designed and manufactured ambulatory monitoring systems for large respiratory product companies. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland , and has held the State of Ohio 's professional engineer certification since 1979. - Joseph Boggs, Director of Research

Josh Boggs, PhD joined NDI in 2005 from his position as a research associate at Duke University. Prior to joining NDI, Dr. Boggs’ academic work focused on developing pre-clinical neural prostheses and minimally invasive techniques to translate pre-clinical results to human trials. As a Project Director at NDI and a Principal Investigator on NIH Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Grants, he has advanced the development of neurostimulation devices from early-stage research to demonstration of clinical feasibility. He has received several awards for his work in neurostimulation, including recognition by the Society for Urodynamics and Female Urology for his pre-clinical and clinical research in developing a novel method of restoring bladder control. He has been asked to serve on the editorial board for the Journal of Clinical Medicine: Urology and as a reviewer on NIH study sections for SBIR and STTR grants. Dr. Boggs received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia and later obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. - Michael Haessly, Director of Operations and Quality Systems

Michael Haessly joined NDI Medical in 2005 and is responsible for all Corporate Operations, Quality, IT and Facility Management functions. He has over 30 years of experience in Operations, Product Development and Implementation, Project Management, Quality Systems Development and Regulatory Affairs in the Medical, Automotive, Packaging, Consumer Products and Chemical industries where he has served as Director and COO levels. He is a leader in developing and commercializing new products, setting up lean six-sigma production facilities, and promotes continuous improvement. In addition he is a recognized expert in developing and deploying FDA compliant and ISO certified quality systems from the ground up, transitioning quality systems from ISO 9000 to ISO 13485 and integration of multiple plant systems into an overall corporate system. He is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), and Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) and is one of a few people to obtain this level of certification. Mr. Sakai joined NDI in 2006 as a mechanical engineer and has developed novel designs related to temporary and permanent neurostimulation therapies. Prior to joining NDI, Mr. Sakai gained valuable clinical experience as a Biomedical Engineer with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Cleveland, Ohio, where he facilitated the implantation and testing of functional electric stimulation systems in human research trials. Mr. Sakai earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from theUniversity of Dayton, and his M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State University.
